Lamb's lettuce 'Great North Holland' BIO

The 'Grote Noordhollandse' lamb's lettuce is not vulnerable and can tolerate frost. Suitable for autumn and winter. 'Grote Noordhollandse' has long leaves and is suitable for baby leaf cultivation. One bag is for approximately 5m2, and the planting distance is 15x4cm.

Lamb's lettuce 'Grote Noordhollandse' is for late autumn and winter. The plants are not very vulnerable and can tolerate a lot of frost. A type with fairly long leaves. The leaves of this variety have a lighter colour than the leaves of lamb's lettuce Vit. Lamb's lettuce makes few demands on the soil. Because the sowing period (August/September) is favourable, you can make good use of the freed up pieces of soil with lamb's lettuce. Sowing in October is too late, unless you have a greenhouse or flat tray. A narrow row distance of 10 cm is possible, but a wider distance is more pleasant in connection with hoeing. Coarsely seeded. TIP: also suitable as baby leaf (sowing period: July-September)!

Saving seeds

Store seeds in a cool, dry and dark place, such as a sealed box in a cupboard. Pay attention to the expiration date on the packaging and use them before that time. If the packaging has been opened, make sure it is sealed properly and check the germination capacity before use.

You can easily test the germination capacity of seeds with a germination test :

  1. Place a few seeds (for example 10) on a damp piece of kitchen paper.
  2. Fold the paper towel closed and place it in a plastic bag or place it in a sealed container.
  3. Place it in a warm place, such as on the windowsill.
  4. After a few days, check to see if the seeds have started to germinate.
