This tree grows relatively compact and is therefore suitable for smaller gardens. Dönissens Gelbe requires a sunny location and well-drained, fertile soil to perform optimally. For a good yield, cross-pollination with other cherry varieties such as Stella is recommended, although this tree is also partly self-pollinating. Pruning in winter and protecting against frost are important for healthy growth and fruit production. Harvest the cherries in July for the best flavour and quality.
