Introduction to sowing lamb's lettuce

I often get the question via chat or email: "Tom, have you had any success with sowing lamb's lettuce and can you make an article or video about it?". I must honestly admit that my trophy cabinet with regard to lamb's lettuce is rather poor. I have already sown lamb's lettuce but with moderate success. There has not been much harvest of this crop on my plate, certainly not when I compare it to the mustard lettuce, rocket, lettuce, winter purslane, spinach, ... all crops that I have already brought into the kitchen in abundance. Because I really like the specific nutty taste of lamb's lettuce, I started to delve into growing lamb's lettuce, lamb's lettuce that they call lamb's lettuce in English and mâche in French. I came across a few things that I do wrong. Below you will find a growing guide for lamb's lettuce. Perhaps you will find the key to making the cultivation successful for you too.

A little more about the lamb's lettuce plant

Lamb's lettuce is a crop that grows in the cold season, if you wanted to grow this crispy, delicious leaf in the summer, it would not be a success. So it is better to grow leafy vegetables in the spring and autumn or all winter long in the vegetable garden tunnel , greenhouse or garden house . Lamb's lettuce belongs to the valerian family, no other common vegetable garden crop that I know of belongs to that family. Finally, I would like to add that lamb's lettuce is bursting with vitamin C, the antioxidant that increases our immunity and also keeps our blood pressure levels under control. It is therefore very healthy to have this vegetable within reach in the winter.

My name is Tom and I am co-owner of Plukkers.com. I am the father of two beautiful daughters and I have a wonderful wife. When I turned a bare spot in the lawn into a herb garden in 2014, I got a very special feeling inside. I immediately felt that it was not a whim but the start of an irresistible and fiery passion. I wanted to know everything and also wrote down what I learned on my website Moestuinweetjes, which is now called Plukkers.com. I also want to inspire other people to grow their own food. At my house in Wielsbeke is my dream garden with a greenhouse, vegetable garden and a hobby vineyard with 333 vines. In addition to wine, I also make delicious beer at home to occasionally celebrate life in moderation. I toast with you to an exciting, richly filled life under the motto: "Make it yourself!"
