Tips and care

• Planting: plant the gladiolus bulbs from March to May in a sunny spot as soon as the risk of frost has passed. Plant them about 10 cm deep in well-drained, nutritious soil. Plant them in groups for the best visual effect.

• Maintenance: during dry weather, provide moderate but regular water. If necessary, give the longer stems some extra support if they are in a wind-prone location.

• Overwintering: because a gladiolus is sensitive to frost, remove the bulbs from the ground before the first winter chill. After drying, store them in a dark, cool, and frost-free place.

• Open ground or pots: ideal for planting in the open ground among perennials or in spacious, deep pots on the patio.
