When to sow beetroot seeds?
If you want very early beetroot (to harvest in April-May), sow beetroot seeds in your greenhouse in February.
You can also choose to sow your beets in February or March and then plant them out in the open ground. This will yield a harvest from late May to late June.
If you want to eat beetroot during the summer and autumn months, sow it between mid-March and mid-July. Sow it intermittently, so you can harvest beets from mid-June to the end of November.
Surprising beetroot seeds
How about yellow beets instead of red beets?
Or the striped Chioggia beetroot ? These are perfect for serving. Super tasty and decorative in a salad.
