Kale 'Darkibor F1' BIO

Kale 'Darkibor F1' is a variety that is suitable for cultivation in the autumn. The dark green, strongly curled leaves can withstand leaf yellowing well. One bag is for approximately 17 m2, and the planting distance is 75x65 cm.

Kale is in the spotlight as a 'superfood'. 'Darkibor F1' is a very productive variety that is suitable for autumn cultivation. The dark green, strongly curled leaves are resistant to leaf yellowing. The plants grow to a height of 45-90 cm. The colour and flavour are particularly enhanced by cold weather, as with all kale varieties. Kale likes fertile, well-fertilised soil with sufficient organic matter that is released slowly. For good growth, it may be wise to fertilise the plants a few times during cultivation with an organic fertiliser.

Saving seeds

Store seeds in a cool, dry and dark place, such as a sealed box in a cupboard. Pay attention to the expiration date on the packaging and use them before that time. If the packaging has been opened, make sure it is sealed properly and check the germination capacity before use.

You can easily test the germination capacity of seeds with a germination test :

  1. Place a few seeds (for example 10) on a damp piece of kitchen paper.
  2. Fold the paper towel closed and place it in a plastic bag or place it in a sealed container.
  3. Place it in a warm place, such as on the windowsill.
  4. After a few days, check to see if the seeds have started to germinate.
