Turmeric (Curcuma longa) – P8 pot
Turmeric is a tropical, heat-loving plant grown for its aromatic rhizomes. These are used in cooking for their warm flavor and characteristic yellow color in curry dishes, soups, rice, and tea. The plant forms elegant green leaves and can also bloom in warm conditions.
In Belgium, it is best to grow turmeric as a potted plant. From spring onwards, it thrives in a warm, bright spot indoors or in a greenhouse. In summer, it can be placed outside in a sheltered, warm location in partial sun. In autumn, the plant should be brought indoors to overwinter.
