Chinese cabbage 'Pomegranate' BIO

'Granate' is a Chinese cabbage that is best sown thinly on site. Also for a baby leaf cultivation. The green heads are large. This cabbage does not tolerate frost well and is very susceptible to bolting. One bag is for approximately 15m2, and the planting distance is 40x30 cm.

Chinese cabbage 'Granaat' produces large, long, green heads. Chinese cabbage can tolerate little frost and is susceptible to bolting. Sowing thinly in situ is the best method. Chinese cabbage requires a nutritious, moisture-retaining soil that is not too acidic. Sowing in situ in the months of June and July is the best method. Maintain a row distance of 40 cm and thin out in the row to 30 cm. Sowing earlier gives a greater risk of bolting. The harvest falls in October, November. TIP: also suitable as baby leaf (sowing period: June-July)!

Saving seeds

Store seeds in a cool, dry and dark place, such as a sealed box in a cupboard. Pay attention to the expiration date on the packaging and use them before that time. If the packaging has been opened, make sure it is sealed properly and check the germination capacity before use.

You can easily test the germination capacity of seeds with a germination test :

  1. Place a few seeds (for example 10) on a damp piece of kitchen paper.
  2. Fold the paper towel closed and place it in a plastic bag or place it in a sealed container.
  3. Place it in a warm place, such as on the windowsill.
  4. After a few days, check to see if the seeds have started to germinate.
