From early varieties you can harvest in summer to robust varieties you can store for the winter: each variety has its own unique flavor and uses. There are floury potatoes suitable for mashing and are perfect for those who enjoy a light texture. Late potatoes are particularly well-suited for storing well into winter. Early potatoes have a short growing season and are harvested before they are fully ripe, making them ideal for a quick harvest. Certain varieties are better suited for specific uses, such as cooking, baking, or storing. Choose your favorites, give them some space and a sunny spot, and you'll soon be enjoying potatoes that taste nowhere as good as those from your own garden.

Our seed potatoes are high-quality and come straight from the Netherlands. Potatoes from your own garden taste better, are more satisfying, and are surprisingly easy to grow. All you need is a good start, and that begins with strong, organically grown seed potatoes . At Plukkers, you'll find carefully selected varieties for every soil type and every plate.
What are seed potatoes?
Seed potatoes aren't seeds, but small potatoes specifically designed for replanting. These seed potatoes are grown under controlled conditions to ensure the best possible start for growing new potatoes. Each seed potato grows into a new plant with multiple tubers. A smart, natural way to build your own supply. You plant one in the ground and harvest a whole meal from it.
Why choose organic seed potatoes?
A good harvest starts with good planting material. Our seed potatoes are:
- Organically grown without chemicals – so pure nature from the ground up.
- Disease-free and certified – for a healthy and vigorous start. Some varieties are also resistant to potato cyst nematode, contributing to sustainable and healthy cultivation.
- Easy to grow – even if you are just starting out with vegetable gardening.
- Widely available in different varieties – from floury to waxy.
- Productive – one seed potato can easily yield 10 to 15 new ones.
When growing, consider soil health and crop rotation to avoid problems such as potato fatigue.
With the right care – and a little sun – a tasty reward will grow underground in 3 to 4 months.

How do you plant a potato?
Planting your own seed potatoes isn't complicated, and with these tips you're guaranteed to succeed:
- Pre-sprouting: place the tubers in a light spot for a few weeks so that they can sprout.
- Soil: Loose, well-draining soil with some compost is ideal. Also, provide loose, fertilized soil in a sunny location for planting seed potatoes.
- Spacing: plant them 30cm apart, with 60cm between rows.
- Hilling up: as soon as the seedlings emerge, pull a mound of soil over them – this will encourage extra tubers to form.
- Planting timeline: You can start planting early varieties as early as March. For mid-early varieties, April, and especially mid-April, is a good time. Late varieties can be planted until the end of April, depending on the weather and soil temperature.
- Harvesting: Depending on the variety, after 90 to 120 days. You can start harvesting the first early potatoes at the end of May. Don't leave potatoes in the ground too long, as this can cause their quality to deteriorate. When the foliage wilts, it's time to harvest.
Variety in your vegetable garden = variety on your plate
Want to enjoy your own potato harvest all season long? Combine early and late varieties. This way, you can spread out your harvest and have the right potato for every dish – from crispy fries to creamy mash.
