Pre-sowing and planting

For a greenhouse cultivation, sow in advance in March-April, for an outdoor cultivation, sow in advance in April, sow in a germination tray and grow indoors at a minimum of 20°C; the optimum germination temperature is 25°C. Germination takes quite a long time. Prick out the plants in pots and plant out in a greenhouse cultivation in the period end of April-May. For an outdoor cultivation, the plants can be planted out at the end of May-beginning of June at 50 x 50 cm (for growth, the soil temperature must be at least 13°C). Depending on the cultivation conditions, you can harvest in the period July-October. Ensure above-average fertilization.

Growing instructions
You do not prune a pepper. You reinforce the stems of the pepper during growth with a bamboo stick, a rope on a top line for each stem, or pull a rope around a row of peppers and two poles, so that the stems rest against the rope.

Harvesting
Fruits can be picked both green and fully coloured red. Depending on the growing conditions, you can harvest in the period July-October. Provide above-average fertilisation.

Saving seeds

Store seeds in a cool, dry and dark place, such as a sealed box in a cupboard. Pay attention to the expiration date on the packaging and use them before that time. If the packaging has been opened, make sure it is sealed properly and check the germination capacity before use.

You can easily test the germination capacity of seeds with a germination test :

  1. Place a few seeds (for example 10) on a damp piece of kitchen paper.
  2. Fold the paper towel closed and place it in a plastic bag or place it in a sealed container.
  3. Place it in a warm place, such as on the windowsill.
  4. After a few days, check to see if the seeds have started to germinate.
