Rice pod 'Hendriks' BIO
Hendriks' is a runner bean with a long harvest period. The pods of this strong and therefore reliable variety are slightly sweeter in older pods than in younger pods. One bag is for approximately 13m2, and the planting distance is 150x5 cm.
Rice pod 'Hendriks' grows for a long time, with a long harvest period. Hendriks is a very reliable and strong variety. The pods in a slightly older stage are somewhat sweeter than the very young pods. Fresh snow peas, garden peas and capuchin beans are the flavour enhancers of the vegetable garden. Problems with diseases and pests are few and far between, which makes it all the more attractive to grow these crops yourself. Little manure is sufficient for this crop. Two main groups can be distinguished: short with a length of up to approx. 70 cm (stem) and long types (rice types). The rice types, such as rice pod 'Hendriks', must be grown along wire mesh. When growing along wire mesh, a row can be sown on both sides of the mesh. For all capuchin beans, peas and snow peas, early sowing (March/April) produces the best results; sowing in May and later produces insufficient pod setting and problems with mildew.

Saving seeds
Saving seeds
Store seeds in a cool, dry and dark place, such as a sealed box in a cupboard. Pay attention to the expiration date on the packaging and use them before that time. If the packaging has been opened, make sure it is sealed properly and check the germination capacity before use.
You can easily test the germination capacity of seeds with a germination test :
- Place a few seeds (for example 10) on a damp piece of kitchen paper.
- Fold the paper towel closed and place it in a plastic bag or place it in a sealed container.
- Place it in a warm place, such as on the windowsill.
- After a few days, check to see if the seeds have started to germinate.
