Runner bean 'Neckargold' BIO

The pods of the French bean 'Neckargold' are deep yellow and tender. They grow to approximately 23 to 25 cm long. 'Neckargold' is a sturdy plant type that is suitable for both outdoor and greenhouse cultivation. One bag is for approximately 20m2, and the planting distance is 75x15 cm.

Pole bean 'Neckargold' (Phaseolus vulgaris) is also known as bacon bean, and has fine, deep yellow and tender pods. This variety has pods of approx. 23-25 ​​cm. long. This bean is a sturdy plant type with deep roots. Resistant to bean roll mosaic virus (V1).

Sowing: 4-5 beans per pole, at a distance of 75x75 cm. Make a stable construction for the beans to climb on. Can be sown from mid-May to mid-June. Harvest: in the period July-September. Pick regularly (2x per week) to keep the growth going.

In greenhouse cultivation, you can also let the beans climb up a rope; for example, you attach the rope to a horizontally pulled steel wire. This saves building a construction of sticks. Pole bean cultivation in the greenhouse generally gives extra yield.

Saving seeds

Store seeds in a cool, dry and dark place, such as a sealed box in a cupboard. Pay attention to the expiration date on the packaging and use them before that time. If the packaging has been opened, make sure it is sealed properly and check the germination capacity before use.

You can easily test the germination capacity of seeds with a germination test :

  1. Place a few seeds (for example 10) on a damp piece of kitchen paper.
  2. Fold the paper towel closed and place it in a plastic bag or place it in a sealed container.
  3. Place it in a warm place, such as on the windowsill.
  4. After a few days, check to see if the seeds have started to germinate.
