Pole bean 'Vitalis' BIO
Pole bean 'Vitalis' is suitable for both greenhouse and outdoor cultivation. The dark green pole bean grows to about 20 cm long and produces top quality pods due to the somewhat slow seed growth. One bag is for about 10m2, and the planting distance is 75x15 cm.
Pole bean 'Vitalis' is a dark green pole bean of 2 cm wide and 20 cm long. This mid-early variety is suitable for both greenhouse and outdoor cultivation. Due to the slow seed growth, this variety gives a higher percentage of first quality pods.
Sowing: Sow 4-5 beans per pole, at a distance of 75x75 cm. Make a stable construction for the beans to climb on. Can be sown from mid-May to mid-June. Pick regularly (2x per week) to keep the growth going.
In greenhouse cultivation, you can also let the beans climb up a rope; for example, you attach the rope to a horizontally pulled steel wire. This saves building a construction of sticks. Pole bean cultivation in the greenhouse generally gives extra yield.
Resistances (HR): BCMV:1.

Saving seeds
Saving seeds
Store seeds in a cool, dry and dark place, such as a sealed box in a cupboard. Pay attention to the expiration date on the packaging and use them before that time. If the packaging has been opened, make sure it is sealed properly and check the germination capacity before use.
You can easily test the germination capacity of seeds with a germination test :
- Place a few seeds (for example 10) on a damp piece of kitchen paper.
- Fold the paper towel closed and place it in a plastic bag or place it in a sealed container.
- Place it in a warm place, such as on the windowsill.
- After a few days, check to see if the seeds have started to germinate.
