Plum tree 'Mirabelle' Patio
Low stem 80cm high - 5 litre pot. The Mirabelle plum tree is loved for its juicy, sweet plums with a bright yellow skin and a delicate flavour. This tree is medium sized and flowers in spring with beautiful white flowers, followed by a rich harvest in late summer. Mirabelle plums are excellent for making jams, sauces and desserts. The tree thrives in well-drained, fertile soil and needs a sunny location for best growth. Regular pruning helps to maintain a healthy structure and to allow the fruits to ripen better. For a good harvest, cross-pollination with other plum varieties is recommended, although Mirabelle is also partially self-pollinating.
A patio tree is a compact tree that has been specially selected or bred to be suitable for smaller gardens, terraces or patios. These trees are generally smaller in height and width than traditional trees, making them suitable for limited spaces. On average they grow to a height of +/- 150 cm (depending on pruning). They have a rootstock that encourages slow, compact growth. They are also often grown in pots or pruned in a special way to restrict their growth and control their size.
In the fall, the soil or the ground in a pot is warm and moist, which means that the trees will root well in the soil. Plants that are planted in the fall have a better developed root system than plants that are only planted in the spring. They will also grow better and can better withstand periods of drought. Because the trees are delivered in a pot, they can be planted all year round.
