Beefsteak tomato 'Marmande' BIO

The fairly large 'Marmande' tomato is a beef tomato with a weight that can vary between 120 and 150 grams. For outdoor cultivation, it is best to place this slightly ribbed tomato in a sheltered and sunny spot. One bag is for approximately 20m2, and the planting distance is 90x50 cm.

Beefsteak tomato 'Marmande' is a fairly large tomato, which is slightly ribbed. The fruit weight varies greatly from 120 to 150 grams. Support the stem and regularly remove the runners (thieves) in the axils. Plant height approximately 100 to 160 cm.

Greenhouse cultivation: sow in March-April. Plant out after the second half of April. Harvest period is from July to October. Outdoor cultivation (open ground): sow in April and plant out in May (after Ice Saints) in a sheltered, sunny place. Harvesting can be done in August-September.

Saving seeds

Store seeds in a cool, dry and dark place, such as a sealed box in a cupboard. Pay attention to the expiration date on the packaging and use them before that time. If the packaging has been opened, make sure it is sealed properly and check the germination capacity before use.

You can easily test the germination capacity of seeds with a germination test :

  1. Place a few seeds (for example 10) on a damp piece of kitchen paper.
  2. Fold the paper towel closed and place it in a plastic bag or place it in a sealed container.
  3. Place it in a warm place, such as on the windowsill.
  4. After a few days, check to see if the seeds have started to germinate.
