Gladiolus 'Azurro' - 10 pieces

The Gladiolus 'Azurro' is a spectacular sight that immediately draws attention with its rare, deep purple-blue gladiolus flower. This large-flowered gladiolus grows into strong, tall stems along which the funnel-shaped flowers bloom profusely from bottom to top. Thanks to its intense, almost velvety color, 'Azurro' creates a beautiful contrast in any summer border or cut flower garden. With these high-quality gladiolus bulbs (bulb size 12/14), you are guaranteed strong stems and an extra rich bloom. The sturdy stems also make this flower extremely suitable as a long-lasting cut flower in a vase.

Tips and care

• Planting: plant the gladiolus bulbs in the spring (March to May) as soon as the risk of night frost has passed. Place them in a sunny, sheltered spot in well-drained and nutrient-rich soil, about 10 cm deep with the point facing upwards.

• Maintenance: water regularly during dry periods. Since the stems can become quite tall and heavy, it is advisable to provide light support with a plant stake if planted in a windy spot.

• Overwintering: a gladiolus is not hardy. Dig up the gladiolus corms in the autumn before the first frost, let them dry, and store them in a cool, frost-free place for the next season.

• Garden beds or pots: looks best in groups in the garden bed at the back of the border, but can also be planted in large, deep pots.
