Yellow dogwood owes its name to the yellow blossom that hangs on the tree in February-March. The fruits are generally red in color and look a bit like cherries , which is why yellow dogwood is also called dogwood cherry. Dogwoods must be very ripe to have a good taste, but are then delicious. It often helps to leave the fruits on the table for a few days to get the taste. Processing into jams or drying is also very possible.

The Juliusz variety is large-fruited and therefore has much larger fruits than a wild yellow dogwood. Yellow dogwood is very winter hardy , likes to be in the sun and forms a large shrub/tree of 4-5m high. Yellow dogwood tolerates pruning well.
