Halloween pumpkin 'Jack O'Lantern' ORGANIC

Jack O'Lantern' is the type of pumpkin that is mostly used as a decorative pumpkin for Halloween. The fruits only start to change color from green to orange during the ripening and then weigh about 3 kg. One bag is for about 10m2, and the planting distance is 150x70 cm.

Halloween pumpkin 'Jack O'Lantern' is a well-known type of ornamental pumpkin, often used for Halloween. Only late in the season, during ripening, the fruits begin to change color from green to orange.

The pulp is suitable for processing in soup. The plants have a short tendril. The fruits are medium sized and weigh around 3 kg. When the fruits are harvested ripe, when the stalk has dried on the plant, they can be stored for about four months.

Sow under glass: end of April-beginning of May. Do not make too wet during germination. Sow in open ground: from mid-May, in a sun-warmed soil at >20 degrees Celsius. Sow two seeds per hole, later leave 1 plant. Harvest before the frost, when the leaves have withered and the stem has dried out.

Saving seeds

Store seeds in a cool, dry and dark place, such as a sealed box in a cupboard. Pay attention to the expiration date on the packaging and use them before that time. If the packaging has been opened, make sure it is sealed properly and check the germination capacity before use.

You can easily test the germination capacity of seeds with a germination test :

  1. Place a few seeds (for example 10) on a damp piece of kitchen paper.
  2. Fold the paper towel closed and place it in a plastic bag or place it in a sealed container.
  3. Place it in a warm place, such as on the windowsill.
  4. After a few days, check to see if the seeds have started to germinate.
