Tips and care

• Planting: would you like to plant this Crocosmia? Plant the corms in the spring (March to May) as soon as the risk of heavy frost has passed. Choose a sunny to lightly shaded spot with well-draining, humus-rich soil and plant them about 8 to 10 cm deep.

• Maintenance: keep the soil moderately moist during growth and flowering. Cut away faded flower stems for a neat appearance, but leave the foliage until it has completely withered.

• Overwintering: this montbretia is reasonably to quite hardy. In the event of severe frost, cover the ground with some leaves or straw just to be safe.

• Open ground or pots: shines in colorful groups in the border among perennials and ornamental grasses, but its compact shape also makes it very suitable for planting in deep patio pots.
