Tips and care

• Planting: would you like to plant this crocosmia? Plant the corms in the spring (March to May) after the worst of the frost has passed. Choose a sunny to light partially shaded spot with well-draining, nutrient-rich soil and plant them about 8 to 10 cm deep.

• Maintenance: keep the soil moderately moist during dry periods in the summer. Cut back faded flower stems for a neat appearance, but leave the green foliage so the corm can store energy for the next season.

• Overwintering: this montbretia is very hardy. In colder regions or during very severe winters, a light covering of leaves or mulch is recommended, especially for young plantings.

• Garden beds or pots: forms spectacular, tall clumps at the back or in the middle of a garden border. Can also be planted in spacious, deep pots.
