•  Planting period : from March to April
  
•  Planting distance : plant them in rows 30 cm apart and 10 cm between the plants.
•  Planting depth : Plant the onion so that the tip just emerges in sandy soil, and plant it slightly higher in clay soil (with the tip and 0.5 cm of the onion remaining above). Plant them in the current year's potato bed in loose, well-drained soil. Tarred compost is fine; avoid fresh manure.
•  Harvest : July to August
