Broad bean 'Eleonora' BIO

The professional broad bean variety 'Eleonora' has long and shiny pods and is known for its good production and wind resistance. Sowing can be done from the beginning of March to mid-April. One bag is for approximately 4m2, and the planting distance is 60x20 cm.

Broad bean 'Eleonora' is a professional variety from De Bolster. This broad bean has a good production. The pods are shiny, long and quite fine. The Eleonora is short and therefore not very susceptible to falling over. Eleonora is a strong crop, also suitable as a windbreak for other crops. Grows on any type of soil and has few demands on fertilization. Excellent taste and very suitable for freezing.

Broad beans have a good cold tolerance. Sowing in situ is possible from the beginning of March to mid-April. Extra advance is possible by sowing in February. When sowing or planting out, keep a minimum distance of 60 x 20 cm. Sowing closer does not result in extra pod yield! The harvest period is short; with different sowing dates, spreading is obtained. These broad beans are brown boiling.

Saving seeds

Store seeds in a cool, dry and dark place, such as a sealed box in a cupboard. Pay attention to the expiration date on the packaging and use them before that time. If the packaging has been opened, make sure it is sealed properly and check the germination capacity before use.

You can easily test the germination capacity of seeds with a germination test :

  1. Place a few seeds (for example 10) on a damp piece of kitchen paper.
  2. Fold the paper towel closed and place it in a plastic bag or place it in a sealed container.
  3. Place it in a warm place, such as on the windowsill.
  4. After a few days, check to see if the seeds have started to germinate.
