Muscat Bleu blue table grape vine on SO4 rootstock (Piwi - resistant)
General information about the vine variety Muscat Bleu:
The table grape variety Muskat bleu was bred on Lake Geneva in Switzerland by the winegrower Garnier from two interspecific parents “Garnier 15/6” x “Seyve-Villard 20-347”, which gives it a high resistance to mold. Due to its attractive fruit, its aroma and its good suitability for cultivation, it is now one of the most popular table grapes in commercial cultivation, but also in allotments and hobby gardens.
Grapes :
The large, shouldered clusters are loosely packed with large, blue and crisp berries. The average weight of the berry is 3.6 g/berry. The ripeness for consumption is reached from the end of August to the beginning of September. Muskat bleu has a pleasant spicy muscat flavor and a balanced acid-fruit ratio and is therefore very suitable for the production of grape juice.
Disease resistance variety Muscat Bleu :
The stability against the fungi downy mildew and powdery mildew, confirmed by years of cultivation experience, is reflected in a high cultivation value, also for organic grape cultivation.
Cultivation advice :
The strong and upright growing variety tolerates frost, but prefers a sheltered position from the wind to flower safely.
Preparation of vine variety Muscat Bleu:
Put your vine in a bucket of water for 24 hours. This way it can suckle itself full again before planting out.
Ground preparation :
You can improve your soil with lava grit (if lime soil) or with bentonite and lava flour (if sandy soil).
Planting out a grapevine :
Make a hole with a diameter of 10 cm and +/- 30 cm deep with a ground drill or spade. And plant the vine with the graft just above the ground. The vine may come out of the ground between 5 and 10 cm. Plant your vines between May 1 and May 15 and leave 1 meter between the plants and 1.5 to 1.8 meters between the rows.
